Dr. Yasmin began her journey at the National University of Singapore, graduating in 1993, and went on to complete her Masters in Periodontology at the Eastman Dental Institute in London. Early in her career, she spent eight years at the Singapore National Dental Centre, where she worked closely with patients managing both dental and complex medical conditions. Alongside clinical care, she was deeply involved in teaching and research, shaping the next generation of dentists.
Over time, her work evolved into a more holistic approach. As co-founder of The Oral Care Centre in Singapore, she helped create a multidisciplinary model where specialists collaborate to design comprehensive, patient-focused treatment plans. That same thinking continues to guide her today.
After moving to Christchurch in 2013, Dr Yasmin focused her work on periodontics in private practice, treating a wide range of gum conditions and implant-related concerns. But she saw a gap. Many patients with moderate periodontal disease were either going untreated or delaying care because of cost. Christchurch Periohygiene was created to change that.
Her philosophy is simple but deeply personal: early care should be accessible, clear, and effective. Gum disease is incredibly common, often silent, and largely manageable when addressed early. For Dr Yasmin, treatment is not just about procedures, it is about education, trust, and giving patients a sense of control over their long-term health.
Outside the clinic, she spends her time exploring New Zealand’s walking trails and camping with her family, making the most of the country she now calls home.
